Character meals are one of my favorite experiences at Disney World. We recently had a chance to eat at Topolino’s Terrace to enjoy their Breakfast a la Art with Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, and Daisy. This is a Signature Dining location at the Riviera Resort. Here is my review!
My family and I were staying at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. We had an 8:00AM breakfast reservation so around 7:30 we walked to the Skyliner station nearby and hopped on a gondola over to the Riviera Resort. Upon entrance into Topolino’s, I was immediately impressed by its VIEWS! Since the restaurant is on the 14th floor, the floor-to-ceiling windows give you a panoramic view to see Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
Our waiter began our meal by giving everyone a glass of the famous POG Juice (Passionfruit, Orange, and Guava). We also had a shared basket of breakfast pastries including chocolate chip muffins and croissants. My favorite thing was that the pastries are served in a paint bucket and come accompanied with spreads that looked like paints in a palette. Even the butter knife looks like a paintbrush!
Like most character meals at Disney, the characters will come around to your table and you will get a chance to meet and take pictures with each one. I loved how the theme of Topolino’s Breakfast a la Art was evident in what each character was wearing. Mickey is dressed like a painter, Minnie is a poet, Donald is a sculptor, and Daisy is a dancer. Similar to the character meals at Tusker House or Chef Mickey’s, at the Breakfast a la Art we were treated to a character parade! The restaurant played an Italian and French inspired song to the tune of “Funiculi, Funicula” while the characters danced around and clapped. To this day, my daughter loves to recreate their parade by putting on her Minnie costume and singing just like they did at the restaurant.
The food at Topolino’s was delicious. My husband enjoyed their vegan Wild Mushroom Scramble, while I had the Two Eggs-any style served with roasted potatoes and bacon. My daughter had the Kids Scrambled Eggs with Fruit Cup and Sausage. By the end of the meal, we were all full and ready to hit the parks for a day at Hollywood Studios.
Overall, I felt that this was a great way meet the characters while having a delicious meal. If you were to compare this to the breakfast at Chef Mickey’s, I would say Topolino’s was much more intimate since Chef Mickey’s is generally very crowded and loud. It is similar in price to Chef Mickey’s (they are both around $40 for adults and $25 for kids), but at Chef Mickey’s you would get to enjoy an all-you-care-to-eat meal and meet Goofy as well.
That said, if you plan on going to Hollywood Studios or if you are staying at the Riviera Resort I would definitely take the time to experience this meal! Remember to book your meals up to 180 days in advance online.
